Co-creating Hyperlocal Regenerative Funding
The first project is top-of-mind for everyone: Biological Fire Mitigation. The BioFireMit project is in the planning stages and is ready to be funded. BioFireMit is both an immediate and long-term fire, drought, and erosion solution, working with Nature to restore soil health (and therefore, water-holding capacity) to our currently parched and desertifying landscapes.
Note: Once we have the proof-of-concept for how fast hyperlocal community regeneration can be funded via a collective “pot of money” (combined with partnerships with businesses, organizations, philanthropists, tourism, etc.), we can implement any regenerative project that’s desired and aligned with community needs/desires — including supporting local, regenerative start-ups that cycle money back into the hyperlocal collective funds!
While we figure out a local funding solution, please support this project via our GoFundMe.
*Any funds left in this GoFundMe will transfer to a local community fund here in Durango/La Plata County (once we get the details figured out)!

Supporting On-the-Ground Hyperlocal Regeneration
We are incredibly lucky to have an amazing Biological Fire Mitigation Coalition (BFMC) in our local community!
The BFMC is in the planning stages of a never-been-done-before Biological Fire Mitigation project in Forest Lakes! Why is this kind of fire mitigation different from current methods? BioFireMit focuses on partnering with Mother Nature and adding life to the land to restore Nature’s natural ecosystem processes which creates incredible fire resilience. One of the main ways this happens is that the soil and vegetation can hold water (and lots of it!) as a result of BioFireMit methods.
With our local fire departments and our county on board, we are excited to launch this pilot project in our local community — complete with baseline and outcomes testing as proof-of-concept for this first-ever comprehensive project!
